Nomad, a MasterCard approved payments processing solutions provider, has experienced rapid growth over the last year and now employs sixty people. The company works with high profile brands such as Lastminute.com, The Ministry of Sound, Club 18-30 and Talk Sport.
The Challenge
The recruitment process at Nomad is managed by financial controller Wendy Mauchline. Before BlueGlue Wendy had signed contracts with a number of preferred suppliers who in the main were specialist IT recruitment companies. The way Wendy worked with these suppliers was that the preferred supplier would be given a job role to fill and would be given 10 days to find candidates. After 10 days if the candidates were not deemed suitable then the position was put out to a plethora of other suppliers. The problem was that Wendy, along with most other companies in the high-tech SME World, was being cold-called by recruitment companies. "I can't believe how many recruitment agencies are out there" she says "There must be a recruitment agent for every single candidate." And despite the fact that Wendy had appointed preferred suppliers and negotiated a good rate (16 or 17% of first year salary against a market rate of 20%) she was often having to turn to other agencies and had to deal with the double negative of those companies having to get up to speed on the types of candidates Nomad was looking for and having to pay a high rate.
The Solution : The Blue Glue recruitment managed service
Nomad then changed to BlueGlue's recruitment managed service.
"Initially the biggest appeal to me was the 10% flat rate that the company offers" says Wendy "although on the other side of that I was very sceptical, thinking to myself how can BlueGlue offer its service at this rate? How do they make their money?"
BlueGlue proved to Nomad that its service was different to traditional recruitment agencies because of the amount of effort it puts in to becoming integrated with its customers. For example, Nomad has five projects live with BlueGlue and has a skype link to the company for ease of communication. This approach has saved an enormous amount of time when it comes to recruiting a wide cross-section of job roles. "The most junior role we have been using BlueGlue for is a client services analyst" says Wendy "but recently we have been recruiting for a technical operations manager and BlueGlue has sourced some brilliant candidates."
Nomad ease the burden of recruitment administration via the Blue Glue web portal, through which Nomad's account manager administrates the process. As it is web-hosted there is no software to install and as Wendy says "I found using the web portal very simple, once I'd used it once or twice it was a no-brainer. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that we don't lose CVs anymore like we used to. Now each CV is always accessible via the web portal complete with the notes that have been made alongside it."
Nomad's Verdict
"Despite the fact that we are very busy at least we are safe in the knowledge that we are getting great value. Using BlueGlue's service for the five roles we are currently holding we will save £25k and that's profit straight on the bottom line." |
